Mercy mission saves cone snail sting victim in the Whitsundays

A day in paradise has ended with a 25 year old male being stung by a cone snail off Whitsunday Island, near famous Whitehaven Beach.

Clermont Show ‘beefs’ up funds for RACQ CQ Rescue

Fundraising of a different kind was the order of the day at the 2015 Clermont Show with RACQ CQ Rescue one of two beneficiaries at the event.

Since 2008, over $40,000 has been raised for the rescue service through the Beef Cattle Auction ‘Charity Class’ and this year was no exception with the proceeds totalling $14,000 which will benefit two worthy charities servicing the Clermont region and surrounds.

Mackay’s community rescue helicopter returns to North Queensland to lend a hand

On Sunday 31st May, the Mackay-based RACQ CQ Rescue community helicopter service deployed one of its Bell 412 helicopters to Townsville to assist the State Government-owned QG Air Rescue (formerly EMQ Helicopter Rescue) during a period of outage with its Bell 412 aircraft.

Registrations are now open for the 2015 Sydney Street Medical Beach to Gardens Fun Run. Going into its third year the event has raised over $20,000 for Variety Queensland and RACQ CQ Rescue. Hong Kong Tourist Winched To Safety After Diving Accident

A 63 year old man has been winched to safety off Hardy Reef pontoon in the Whitsundays while on a routine scuba dive.

The man ascended too quickly causing him to inhale water while rising to the surface.

Snake Bite And Irukandji Sting Spark Busy 24 Hours For Rescue Helicopter

A 26 year old French tourist has been stung by a suspected Irukandji jellyfish while holidaying on a cruise ship in the Whitsunday Islands.

The woman was transported via boat to the Hayman Island medical facility for first aid treatment while awaiting the arrival of the RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter.

The Rescue Helicopter’s trauma team stabilised the woman on the island before airlifting her to Mackay for further treatment and hospitalisation.
