BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance
BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia’s largest exporter of seaborne metallurgical coal. BMA’s mines have a combined production capacity of more than 52 million tonnes per year, and almost all of the coal produced is used overseas for steel production.
BMA was formed in 2001 as a partnership between BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd, and the two companies now share equal ownership of seven Bowen Basin coal mines as well as the Hay Point coal export terminal near Mackay.
BMA operations provide significant benefits to the local communities, to the broader Central Queensland region and to the economic development of Queensland. BMA has an overriding commitment to sustainability through putting health and safety first, being environmentally responsible and supporting its communities.
BHP Billiton was a major supporter of RACQ CQ Rescue from the time of its inception in 1996 onwards, and this support continues on today through BMA’s Platinum Partnership of the service.
The CFMEU has been an avid supporter of CQ Rescue since day one of their operation. Our members understand the value of having this crucial helicopter rescue service which has been invaluable to our members and their families, particularly those working and living in the Bowen Basin.
We look forward to supporting CQ Rescue and their work for many years to come.
RACQ CQ Rescue is one of the most worthy charities you can contribute to and one you hope to never ever have to call on. G&S continues to support this charity and the team that runs it as our biggest sponsorship because the thought of it not being there if our people ever needed it is unimaginable.
Glencore’s first priority in the workplace is to protect the health and well-being of all our workers. We take a proactive approach to health and safety and support RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter service, which allows community members to access health services when they are most in need of help.
Due to its remote offshore location, Hamilton Island relies on the vital service that RACQ CQ Rescue provides for residents, staff and guests should emergency care be required.
Hamilton Island‘s support of the RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter Service has seen the entire community give generously at various fundraising events, including our Annual Charity Golf Day.
In 2015, Hamilton Island’s contribution to RACQ CQ Rescue elevated us from Major Sponsor status to Platinum Partner level.
A proud partnership exists between our two organisations.
