The RACQ CQ Rescue crew has responded to a call to retrieve a 7-year-old boy after a suspected snake bite to his leg.
The young boy was at his house in Glenden when the incident occurred earlier this morning.
First aid was administered quickly and the Mackay-based rescue helicopter was tasked to transfer the young patient to Mackay Base Hospital for observation and treatment.
The rescue crew departed Mackay Airport at 10.32am for the 32-minute flight to Glenden’s town centre and was back in the air in less than 30 minutes.
The patient, who was accompanied on his journey by his mother, was in a stable condition during the flight to Mackay, where they arrived just after midday.
