Courier Injured when Ute Slams into Tree

A courier was lucky to sustain only minor injuries when his ute slammed into a tree near Valkyrie early on March 14.

The 72-year-old Andergrove man was driving along Fitzroy Development Road, more than 120km south-west of Mackay, about 6am when his vehicle left the road and hit the tree.

RACQ CQ Rescue, with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic on board, was tasked about 6.50am and flew direct to the scene, landing in a paddock beside the accident scene.

The patient suffered minor chest and head injuries and was transported to Mackay Airport before being transferred by ambulance to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition about 9am.
