Man Smashes into Windscreen in Serious Tractor Accident

A property worker sustained multiple injuries when he was thrown into the windscreen of his tractor after a serious accident late last night.

The 35-year-old man, who lives on the property on the Fiztroy Development Road, near Valkyrie, was driving the tractor about 30km/hr last night when the bucket fell off the front. As the tractor ran into the bucket, the man was violently ejected into the glass windscreen, smashing it, The driver was then thrown out the side of the tractor cabin and onto the ground.

An RACQ CQ Rescue spokesperson said the helicopter was tasked about 10.30pm to fly 70 nautical miles (120 kilometres) to the scene to airlift the seriously injured man who had suffered multiple cuts and abrasions, a suspected fractured arm and head injuries.

The rescue helicopter, with a paramedic and rescue crewman aboard, landed on the property about 11.20pm and transferred the patient to Mackay Base Hospital about 1 am.
