A mother has found her child hanging by the neck from a swing set after a tragic playground accident south of Mackay this afternoon.
RACQ CQ Rescue flew the three-year-old girl to the hospital tonight after the horrific accident at the family’s property at Koumala, about 60 km south of Mackay.
The child was believed to be playing on a swing set as her mother tended to animals on the property. When the mother returned to check on the child, she found her daughter hanging with the swing rope around her neck and not breathing.
An RACQ CQ Rescue spokesperson said it was believed CPR had been performed on the child and a pulse returned before an ambulance crew arrived on the scene.
The Mackay-based rescue helicopter landed at the Koumala sports ground at 6.55 pm to meet the ambulance and rush the child, who was accompanied by her mother, to Mackay Base Hospital. Her condition was unknown last night.
RACQ CQ Rescue returned to base at Mackay Airport at 8.22 pm.
