Sponsors Take Rescue Helicopter to New Heights

Three new sponsors have jumped on board to help RACQ CQ Rescue deliver life-saving aeromedical and emergency helicopter rescue services to people across the region.

Ill Filipino Sailor Winched from Bulk Carrier at Abbot Point

RACQ CQ Rescue has winched a seriously ill Filipino sailor off a bulk carrier 18km north of Abbot Point this afternoon.

About 2pm, the Mackay-based rescue helicopter, with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic on board, was tasked to fly 220km north-west of Mackay to where the 292-metre long vessel True Endurance was anchored.

Rescue Helicopter Locates Lonely Fisherman on Upturned Boat

RACQ CQ Rescue has located a lone fisherman sitting on his upturned boat in the dark after he activated his EPIRB very early this morning.


The Mackay-based rescue helicopter was tasked by the Australia Maritime Safety Authority to conduct a search for a distress beacon which had been activated about 13km east of Mackay about 1.30am.

Injured Boatie Airlifted to Medical Care

At 5.30pm on Friday afternoon, the RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter was tasked to retrieve an injured fisherman from a location near Kindemar Reef, approximately 120 killometres off the coast of Mackay.
