Huge Venomous Snake Bites Rider's Leg on Cattle Property

RACQ CQ Rescue has airlifted a 34-year-old man to hospital today after he was bitten by an enormous, highly-venomous brown snake while mustering cattle on a property near Clermont.

The Charters Towers man was riding a motorbike on a property about 50km south-west of Clermont about 8am when he rode over the top of the seven-foot long brown snake. The angry snake then reared up and bit him on his lower right leg penetrating the skin through his denim jeans.

Midge Point Elves Deliver Lifesaving Christmas Gift to Region

The Midge Point Elves needed more than two kilometres of Christmas tinsel last year to deliver a $4200 gift to the region’s rescue helicopter.

The ‘elves’, Midge Point residents Bonnie Bryant and Barbara Butterfield, decorated and sold more than 200 miniature Christmas trees throughout November and December bringing the total amount raised for RACQ CQ Rescue in just two years to almost $10,000.

Model Citizens Raise Lifesaving Funds For Rescue Helicopter

Seven-year-old Mackay girl Rahni Richford raised $6076 and was crowned Charity Princess at the 2017 RACQ CQ Rescue Model Search on Saturday night.

Eighty-two models competed in the event, held at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre, to help raise more than $20,000 for one of the region’s most deserving and well-respected charities and be in the running to be discovered by an international modelling agency.

Maroons Make Flying Visit to Mackay Rescue Chopper Hangar

The Queensland State of Origin team made a flying visit to Mackay’s rescue helicopter hangar late this afternoon.

The team had been in town for the Mackay Fan Day and took the opportunity to pop into RACQ CQ Rescue hangar to meet the crew and sign some merchandise before boarding their flight back to Brisbane.

Five-year-old Girl Crushed by Horse on Family Farm

A child has been airlifted to hospital by RACQ CQ Rescue after she suffered very serious injuries when she was crushed by a horse on the family farm today.

The five-year-old girl is the third patient injured in a fall from a horse and transported to the hospital by the Mackay-based rescue helicopter in just seven days.

British Tourist’s Leg Degloved in Horror Accident on Yacht

RACQ CQ Rescue has landed on world-famous Whitehaven Beach to airlift a UK tourist who suffered a horrific injury aboard a maxi yacht late yesterday.

The 53-year-old woman, from Birmingham, England, was holidaying aboard a 24-metre tourist vessel in the Whitsundays when the accident happened and her leg is believed to have gotten caught in a rope.
