Rail Worker Injured in Fall from Coal Train Near Koumala

RACQ CQ Rescue has landed on the Bruce Highway south of Koumala today after a woman was injured when she fell from a coal train.

The Mackay-based rescue helicopter flew directly to the scene of the accident, on a railway line running parallel to the Bruce Highway about 70km south of Mackay, just after 11.30am.

A Mackay-based rescue RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter has airlifted a 60-year-old Kuranda woman to Cairns hospital with serious injuries after a horror head-on smash near Mareeba today.

RACQ CQ Rescue had landed at Townsville General Hospital after transferring a patient from Mackay earlier this morning and was refuelling when the rescue helicopter, with a doctor and Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) also aboard, was tasked to fly 385km north to Mareeba hospital about midday.
