From outback to offshore - our coverage area
BMA CQ Rescue operates across one of the most diverse and expansive regions in Australia, spanning from Townsville in the north to St Lawrence in the south, west to the Bowen and Galilee Basins, and more than 200km offshore to the Great Barrier Reef.
Covering a vast and often rugged landscape, our service area includes regional towns, remote properties, and isolated offshore locations, ensuring that critical care reaches those who need it most – no matter how far or how difficult to access.
“In real terms, our area of operation is greater than four times the size of Tasmania and we are on call to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.”
Missions frequently extend to Townsville, providing urgent medical transport for critically ill or seriously injured patients requiring specialist care not available in Mackay. Additionally, we’re called to offshore vessels, mine sites, and rural properties, where time is of the essence and access by road is impossible.
Our AW139 helicopters are equipped to handle complex rescues in challenging terrain and extreme weather conditions, ensuring we can deliver life-saving care whenever and wherever it’s needed most. Whether it’s a medical emergency, a search and rescue mission, or a critical patient transfer, BMA CQ Rescue is committed to being a lifeline for those living and working in the heart of Queensland.
