Choose from scenic 5km, 7.78km, and 10km routes along the Bluewater Trail, all starting and ending at Iluka Park.

7.78km Lifesaving Legacy Challenge

7.78km Fun Run - $55

Take on something bigger than the finish line with our brand new 7.78km Lifesaving Legacy Challenge. This unique distance invites you to run with purpose, with every step representing the 778 lives helped by CQ Rescue last year. Starting from Iluka Park, you’ll follow the scenic Bluewater Trail before returning to a vibrant finish line, with our support squad there to keep you moving. Whether you’re running solo or as part of a team, this is your chance to be part of something that grows every year. Register now and turn your run into real impact for our community.

 

5km Course

5km Fun Run - $45

The 5km course kicks off at 7am from Iluka Park. Follow the picturesque Bluewater Trail, cruising along the Binnington Esplanade until you reach the 5km mark near the Mackay Waterfront Precinct. Then, it’s a smooth return journey back to Iluka Park, where our support squad awaits with hydration and goodies to fuel your run!

10km Course

10km Fun Run - $60

The 10km course kicks off at 6:30am from Iluka Park. Following the Bluewater trail to the 5km turnaround point. Keep the momentum going as you cross over Forgan Bridge and make your way to Harbour Road. Hit the turnaround point at the corner of Harbour Road and Palmer St before heading back to Iluka Park along the picturesque Bluewater Trail. Look out for our support squad ready to keep you hydrated and energised for the journey!

FAQ

  • The 2026 BMA CQ Rescue Fun Run precinct will be open from 6am til 9am at Iluka Park on Sunday 2nd August.

    All distances start and finish here.

    Race day is Sunday 2nd of August

    Run Times

    10km - 6:30am

    7.78km - 7.00am

    5km - 7:30am

  • Registrations are now open! Please click the ‘Register Here’ buttons on this webpage.

    Participants who register before the 12th of June will receive a singlet/t-shirt.

  • Absolutely! Our amazing volunteers and run day staff will be set up at the 5km, 7.78km and 10km turnaround spots and we will have pitstops along the way.

    There will be plenty of water, extra sunscreen, mosquito repellent and more at each stop.

  • Once you register you will receive emails from us with important event information.

    Plus, make sure you follow BMA CQ Rescue and the event on Facebook!

  • Race pack collections are available between 1pm and 6pm on Friday 31st of July from the BMA CQ Rescue Hangar located at Mackay Airport.

    If you are unable to collect your race pack a friend can collect for you, please give them your email confirmation to present.

  • With your entry fee, you will receive a shirt/singlet (if registered by 12th June) as well as a timing chip and race bib.

    The entry fee covers marketing/logistics/admin costs, with all proceeds being donated to BMA CQ Rescue.

    Should you wish to individually support BMA CQ Rescue, please make a donation with your entry or via our website.

  • Yes, you may walk in the 5km event.
